Teen Weaver

Sixteen year old Crystal Marie Keet Mann (Tsimshian) smiles while she is busily weaving a cedar bark hat at the Saxman Totem carving shed.

Mann started weaving at age 12 when she took her first cedar bark weaving class from Holly Churchill (Haida). A year later, Crystal was one of three teens selected by Churchill to apprentice under her to learn cedar bark weaving.

Mann has also been a student of Churchill's mother, Delores Churchill, and has been working with her own mother, Mary Mann, who is a weaver as well.
