Willard Jackson, Sr. Withdraws

Contacted by Sitnews today Willard Jackson, Sr. said he has withdrawn as a candidate for the Ketchikan Indian Community Tribal Council. Jackson cited the declining health of his mother, Tlingit elder Ester Shay, as his reason for withdrawing his name from the January 20, 2003 election.

Jackson said there will be another time for him and that he wishes all of the candidates well. He said will be attending the pre-election celebration at the Saxman Tribal House Sunday from 2:00 -5:00 pm with his dance group.
