Scenes from the 2002 Ketchikan Health Fair which was held at the Plaza Mall on Saturday, November 2nd.

 

Ketchikan Indian Community's Tribal Health Clinic and Gateway Human Services conjointly hosted a booth on Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder. Jasmine (Stewart) Nelson is the FASD Diagnostic Team Coordinator. Many people, old and young alike enjoyed holding and comforting the drug affected baby doll.

Life long Ketchikan resident Jane Church visited all of the health fair booths. Jane has volunteered for years in the prevention of substance abuse among youth. Jane remains very active in Alaskans For a Drug Free Youth and recently was a key note speaker at Red Ribbon Week activities.
  

Jasmine (Stewart) Nelson is the FASD Diagnostic Team Coordinator. Children were invited to play a bean bag toss, teens and adults were invited to take a quiz to test their knowledge about FASD.

Ketchikan Master Swimmers

 

Ketchikan Police Department hosted a booth at the Ketchikan Health Fair. Bicycle Safety was the theme and dozens of helmets were given out to promote safety.

 

The Ketchikan Health Fair was made possible through the use of materials from Alaska Health Fairs, Inc.

Alaskans for Drug Free Youth;
