High School juniors and seniors statewide are scheduled to take the Alaska High School Graduation Qualifying Exam October 28, 29 and 30. Sophomores aren't allowed to take the exam for the first time until their spring semester.

The exam, which students will take in secure testing centers, will be on a Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

The exam will consist of three tests, writing, math and reading. The writing test will be given October 28; the math test, October 29; and the reading test, October 30.

The high school exam will be administered again this spring, on March 4, 5 and 6. Sophomores in their second semester must take the test at that time. Juniors and seniors need to take a test not passed at least once a year.

The Alaska Benchmark Exams at grades 3, 6 and 8 also will be administered on March 4, 5 and 6. The order of the tests will be the same as the spring high school exam.
