AK Dept. of Education Seeks
Service Providers
October 22, 2002
Tuesday - 12:05 am
The Department of Education
& Early Development is in the process of launching an advertising
campaign to find Alaska-based individuals and organizations to
help academically struggling
students achieve state standards in reading, writing and math.
Under the federal No Child Left Behind Act of 2001, students
attending schools in "improvement status" are eligible
for supplemental tutoring and instruction paid for by a portion
of the school district's Title I funds.
Eligible service providers
must be knowledgeable in the content area they will be delivering
and should be familiar with the students, parents, communities
and regions they will be serving.
