Thursday - 11:30 pm
Ketchikan, AK - Coast Guard Station Ketchikan took over an unsafe
tow outside of Ketchikan Harbor Saturday afternoon, May 17th.
The Coast Guard received information from the vessel Noname Tomcat
that the Valley Queen was being towed into harbor by its own
skiff. Station Ketchikan's 47-foot motor lifeboat arrived on
scene and took the Valley Queen in tow and the Valley Queen took
their skiff in tow. During the transit to the harbor the bow
line to the skiff parted and the skiff capsized and sank before
the Coast Guard crew could release the Valley Queen from tow
and respond. The crew towed the Valley Queen into Ketchikan Harbor
safely arriving at about 9:15 p.m. Saturday evening.
