Additional POW Sailings Announced

May 22, 2003
Thursday - 12:30 am

In response to increased Memorial Day weekend demand, Inter-Island Ferry Authority's operations manager Stu Vincent announced Wednesday that the M/V Prince of Wales will make two round-trip sailings between Hollis and Ketchikan on each of May 23, 24, 25 and 26. The IFA ferry was scheduled for one daily round-trip through May 31.

Vincent said that in addition to the Fourth Annual Prince of Wales International Marathon, to be run from Hollis to Craig on Saturday, other events scheduled for this weekend at Craig include a Fine Arts Show, Second Annual Quilt Show, Native Dancing, Jazz Concert and Art Auction, and a Wearable Art Show. Growing interest in the POW marathon and the draw of additional events on the same weekend is resulting in the need for additional capacity on the popular Ketchikan-Hollis run, according to Vincent.

The revised schedule for the M/V Prince of Wales on May 23, 24, 25 and 26 is:

Dep Hollis    8:00 am  Arr Ketchikan    11:00 am
Dep Ketchikan    11:30 am  Arr Hollis    2:30 pm
Dep Hollis    3:00 pm  Arr Ketchikan    6:00 pm
Dep Ketchikan    6:30 pm  Arr Hollis    9:30 pm

Two daily round-trips are scheduled in June, July and August.

Call the IFA toll-free at 866-308-4848 for information, or their Ketchikan terminal at 225-4838.
