Ketchikan - There will be pedestrian and vehicular traffic and parking disruptions at Ketchikan International Airport (KIA) beginning May 14th. According to a news release, the West Taxiway Project Contractor will be conducting trench work in the driving lane immediately in front of the terminal and along parking spaces leading down towards the West Taxiway Project site. This will have an impact on curbside parking and loading/unloading, pedestrian access to the building, and car rental parking.

The driving lane furthest from the terminal will be temporarily marked and signed for two-way traffic. There will be no curbside parking. Curbside loading and unloading will be severely limited and may be a considerable distance away from the terminal entrance. A contractor's agent will be available to direct drivers for loading and unloading. The pedestrian access path across the construction site will be rerouted occasionally and a temporary path will be clearly delineated.

The work should be completed by May 23rd.

If you have any problems or questions contact David Allen, KGB Director of the Department of Transportation Services, at 225-6800.
