Chicago - We all know how kids love computers, and a Chicago woman is getting a lot of attention since creating a website, storydog.com, where children and their busy parents are

Storydog.com, founded by Maria Tubay shown with her dog Vinny, who inspired the site, offers families free, daily short stories. Each chapter creates a suspense for the next day's story and builds on a common set of characters-Vinny is a street-smart dog, a Siamese cat, Kabuki, a squirrel named Hitchcock, and Vinny's 9-year-old owner, Jack. reading free, daily short family stories together.

"We wanted to create a site where kids and their parents can find a new short story everyday," said Maria Tubay, founder of this web site. "My 12 nieces and nephews love to read and be read to, and I wanted to give them a place where they could find a fun story whenever they wanted," she said.

Tubay is 41, single, and works as a creative director for a Chicago advertising agency. Maria has learned from her family and friends that busy, working parents find it difficult to devote the time to read to their children at the end of a busy day, especially when kids usually pick the thickest book on the shelf.

Storydog.com provides families with a short story that can be read and enjoyed quickly each day, promoting family interaction and education. Each chapter creates suspense for the next day's story and builds on a common set of characters that provides continuity and interest while learning.

Every story revolves around the same characters. Vinny is a street-smart dog who discovers he has a magical ability to read. He shares his knowledge and love of adventure with his friends; a Siamese cat, Kabuki; a squirrel named Hitchcock; and Vinny's 9 year old owner, Jack.

This group find themselves in the middle of mysteries, chases, and other adventures, but they always discover ways to help out a friend. The stories can be read online or printed on paper. Each story begins on Sunday with a new chapter, and continues through Thursday, allowing the weekends free for family activities.

The Storydog audience is 7-10 year olds, who can relate to what Vinny and his friends go through, because just like Vinny, these kids all have their own stories to tell.

All the stories are written by a talented group of experienced children's writers from across the country.
