Klein said, "There are 44 active youth members and over 30 adults who help this program operate. We have a bone-bare budget and need help." She said the Ketchikan Youth Court would like to thank the organizations and businesses who help support the Youth Court through their generous donations. She said, "We deeply appreciate the support from the Plaza too." Klein said she thinks it's good to let the community know that the Ketchikan Youth Court organization performs services in the community. We have performed 7,000 hours of service in the last 3 1/2 years and require each youth members to put in 50 hours of community service per year. Road-side clean up is one example of the community services preformed. Klein said, "Each weekend we have members and offenders do service to help make our community look better." ![]() KYC has hauled, chopped, and sold 20 cords of wood this year. 01/18/03 Photo courtesy Ketchikan Youth Court Klein also announced on behalf of the Ketchikan Youth Court that the organization has a new youth assistant, Vicky Pilcher. The youth assistant position is funded through the Revilla Island Prevention Coalition. Klein said the funding provided by the Revilla Island Prevention Coalition has allowed the Ketchikan Youth Court to have four youth positions who have worked hand-in-hand with the Coordinator over the last three years. Klein said the organization also hopes to have two youth members sit on the Ketchikan Regional Youth Facility Board which will allow the youth members to communicate with adult members about what they see handling first time offenders and what could be done more effectively as a community to keep Ketchikan's youth out of serious trouble.
